The Body Knows: A Somatic and IFS-Informed Framework for Men and Fathers in Recovery
An Open Community Gathering
The Body Knows
A Somatic and IFS-Informed Framework for Men and Fathers in Recovery
Hosted by Jan Winhall, MSW, FOT with special guest Travis Goodman, LMFT
About the session
Jan Winhall returns for Somatic Mondays with a special guest, Travis Goodman, LMFT, for a session exploring how somatic and nervous system-based work can be brought to men, fathers, and male-centered communities in a practical and accessible way.
Travis will share how he developed The Men's Collective, an 8-week cohort that blends the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model, IFS-informed parts work, somatic awareness, and community-based practice. Together, Jan and Travis will explore how to translate nervous system and parts language into messaging that resonates with men who may not see themselves as “therapy people,” but know they feel stuck, reactive, disconnected, or caught in addictive patterns.
Rather than framing these struggles as character flaws or failures of willpower, this session offers a framework for understanding them as adaptive attempts to regulate distress and move toward connection, repair, and embodied leadership.
If you are able to contribute, your support helps us keep these gatherings going. Contributions of any amount are gratefully received.
The recording of this session (without the Q&A) will be shared on our YouTube channel after the event.
