Friends of ANCHOR research tours

Fri 30 Oct 2026, Multiple times The Rowett Institute, AB25 2ZD

This free event is all about saying THANK YOU. We really hope to see you there, so we can express our gratitude in person.

You’ll have the opportunity to join one of our Friends of ANCHOR research fellows as they take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of their research lab, bringing you up to speed on the pioneering cancer and haematology work we’re funding right here in the North-east at the University of Aberdeen.

Each tour is hosted by one of our fully-funded research fellows, whose vital work is only possible thanks to your donations. Please choose which tour you’d like to attend, and reserve your free spot on one of the tours by tapping the ‘Book your place’ button.

Lab tours

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the pioneering research your support helps make possible. Tours run every hour from 9.30pm to 12.30pm.

As places are limited we kindly ask that you only book onto one tour. If spaces remain available on the day, you might have the opportunity to join additional tours.

Blood clots: making and breaking them

With Dr Claire Whyte

People with cancer have a higher risk of having blood clots. In this tour, learn how clots form, how they’re broken down and how the process is modelled in the lab.

You'll also hear how Friends of ANCHOR funding has supported research into the early detection of blood clots in breast cancer patients, helping to pave the way for improved care and better outcomes in the future.
