Past & Present: Discovering Loudoun Through Time

Join the Friends of Thomas Balch Library on Thursday, Oct. 22, for Past & Present: Discovering Loudoun Through Time, an evening reception in the historic Birkby House Conservatory in downtown Leesburg. Enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres by Tuskies and good conversation while you explore a "Then & Now" photo gallery, rare treasures from the library's collections, a community memory wall and a "Guess Where?" challenge. Tickets are $75, and every ticket supports the Friends' work preserving and sharing Loudoun County's history. Raffle tickets, a silent auction and sponsorship opportunities round out the evening.

When: Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: Birkby House Conservatory, 109 Loudoun St. SW, Leesburg, VA 20175

Tickets: $75 per person. $50 of each ticket is tax deductible. A small processing fee is added for online checkout.

Raffle: $25 per ticket or five tickets for $100, available with your ticket order or at the event. Ten $100 Tuskies gift certificates will be awarded. You do not need to be present to win.

Silent auction: Paintings and historic English indentures from the early 1700s, most handwritten on calfskin vellum.

Sponsorships: Sponsorships are available at $250, $500 and $1,000. Each level includes tickets to the event and recognition in the event program, and two-thirds of every sponsorship is tax deductible.
