Organised by FOOS (Friends of Olveston School, charity number 1033814). With thanks to local landowners for the use of their bridleways / footpaths as well as MLG, Restorative Techniques, James Newbold Ceramics, Tesco and Asda for sponsoring the event.

Join us on Sunday 17th May for the Olveston family fun run – open to all runners of any age and ability! Take part in a 5K run around the local area or a 1K colour run around Olveston Primary School field.

This is an open event, not just for families of children who attend Olveston Primary School. There has been a long history of successful runners from Olveston and we very much hope some of them will come back and join us and inspire the next generations. There will also be family friendly stalls (games and arts and crafts) and refreshments (including bacon and vegetarian sausage baps) for supporters to participate in this community event.

5K run specific information

The 5K run is a single lap off-road course of approximately 5km along footpaths and bridleways of Olveston. It starts at Olveston School.

Trophies are up for grabs for the 5K run with a winners presentation taking part at the end of the event.

All participants of the 5K run will receive a medal.

There will be marshals on the route but the committee cannot take responsibility for individual children. Anyone under 18 who runs the 5K race alone does so at the responsibility of their parents. We do not advise that Key Stage 1 children run alone.

Please be aware the course route and terrain is not suitable for running buggies or mobility aids unfortunately.

Please note - named race results for the 5K run will be emailed to all 5K runners.

1K colour run specific information

A 1km colour run around the school grounds. This takes place at Olveston School.

All participants of the 1K colour run will receive a white t-shirt and a medal (this excludes accompanying adults).

All children joining the 1K race must be accompanied by an adult at the school but not necessarily running with them.

For adults wishing to accompany a child on the 1K colour run, there is a combined child and accompanying adult ticket available - these tickets do not include a t-shirt or medal for the accompanying adult.

We recommend participants of the colour run wear sunglasses. Dust masks are recommended for anyone participating in the colour run who suffers from respiratory conditions. The colour powder is not likely to cause irritation to those who suffer with skin conditions, but if there is concern then a long sleeve top would be recommended. The colour powder that we will be using is made from corn starch, dyed with food-grade colouring. The powder will be thrown from our designated stations and will be aimed at the bodies of the runners. However, it is likely you will get some paint on your head/face.

General Information for both runs

  • Registration from 08:30 at Olveston School
  • 1km start at 09:30
  • 5km start at 10:00

Please write a parent’s mobile phone number on any under 18’s race number.

We encourage everyone to purchase tickets in advance as soon as possible as last year the event sold out!

By buying tickets: I agree to comply with the rules of this Fun Run. I will not participate in the run unless I am fit enough to complete the Run. I am taking part at my own risk and the promoters or any person involved in the organisation of the event are not responsible for my well-being. I have no objection to my details being held on computer or paper by the committee for the organisation of the event.
