Celebrate Archaeology Month by looking beneath the surface of Dey Mansion Washington's Headquarters! Join us for a guided archaeology tour to learn about what has been found on the grounds and how this has contributed to our understanding of the site’s history.
- See Beneath the Soil: View archival photos of the excavations that uncovered buried artifacts.
- Trace the Site's Evolution: Discover how structural layouts and outbuildings were mapped using archaeological clues.
- Solve a Reconstructed Mystery: Can you spot the outdoor feature used by Washington that was rebuilt exactly where it stood? (Hint: Think about colonial camp life or outbuildings!)
- Decode the Footprints: Walk the grounds to explore a variety of features that reveal how soldiers and the Dey family utilized the landscape.
When the tour is finished, be sure to stop by the Visitor Center to view actual artifacts recovered from the grounds on exhibit!
