Layers of History

Ever wonder how secrets stay buried for centuries? Step into the shoes of an archaeologist and help build a new archaeology installation from scratch! Layers of History is an exclusive, hands-on workshop where you will learn to decode the past and leave your mark on the museum.

• Construct the Exhibit: Build a real archaeological site layer by layer.
• Play Detective: Learn to "read" soil stains and dirt patterns to solve history’s mysteries.
• Curate the Clues: Select artifacts that represent historic lives and decide how they are buried.
• Leave a Legacy: Help create an installation that future museum visitors will see.

This workshop is designed for teens ages 13 to 17.

Make it a family activity! Parents are welcome to join their children in creating the installation or can explore the archaeology center’s exhibits at their own pace. Please reserve a ticket for all who will be participating in the workshop.
