2026-2027 Concert Subscription

Welcome to the 2026-2027 Concert Season at the Stone Church Cultural Center

Friends of the Stone Church will present eight live music concerts by wonderful creative artists, between September 26, 2026 and June 13, 2027: Four ticketed programs, and four FREE community concerts, with donations always gratefully accepted.

Throughout the season, we will offer opportunities to meet with the performing artists to share the joys of live music in our historic venue.

$92/person for four ticketed concerts* plus four free community concerts
The season subscription purchase covers one entry for each ticketed event on September 26, November 1, April 10 and May 8. You'll save 20% buying a subscription over individual concert tickets!

Donations with ticket purchase support the costs of our cultural programs, and are welcome to assist Friends of the Stone Church in its mission to preserve the Cultural Center and offer creative arts and humanities programs.

All events are free to those under 18.

Holders of the Massachusetts Card to Culture* (see explanation below) may request up to two free tickets at the box office for any ticketed concert on the concert day, or may make a reservation by email to events@friendsofthestonechurch.org.

Wild & Tended traces art song from its Romantic roots to music written in our own time. Featuring an array of songs by Clara Schumann, Hugo Wolf, Arnold Schoenberg, Lili Boulanger, Francis Poulenc, and American composers Charles Ives, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, and John Frantzen.

Diana Fanning’s latest program program traces a journey from Classical form to Romantic and Impressionist color. The program opens with Beethoven's Six Variations in F Major, Op. 34, a set that showcases his inventive treatment of a simple theme, followed by Janáček's deeply personal On an Overgrown Path—a folk-inflected work crowded with memories dating back to his childhood in a small Czech village

The second half includes two Debussy preludes—the sensuous Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l’air du soir and the puckish Minstrels, and concludes with Chopin's passionate and virtuosic Sonata in B Minor, Op. 58.

When his beloved locomotive is stolen by Union spies along with the woman he loves, Southern railroad engineer Johnnie Gray sets off on a one-man mission behind enemy lines to get them both back. Buster Keaton writes, directs, and stars in this silent-era masterpiece, performing his own death-defying stunts amid runaway trains, collapsing bridges, and explosive Civil War chaos.

Internationally-renowned organist Peter Krasinski returns to the Stone Church to perform his award-winning live, improvised accompaniment on our historic Johnson & Sons Organ.

Krakauer & Tagg share a constant quest to redefine the sounds and roles of their instruments, bringing together all aspects of their music making– influences range from interlocking African drumming patterns to jazz to Romantic symphonic music to minimalism to klezmer.

Their acrobatic and highly virtuosic arrangements of tunes by a host of performer-composers from around the globe are placed alongside original compositions and complete reimaginings of traditional tunes and standards close to their hearts.

Weir River Jazz and The Weir River Concert Band rehearse bi-weekly in Boothman Hall at the Stone Church Cultural Center. As a community service, they offer free concerts with donations to benefit Friends of the Stone Church and other community causes. The groups receive a modest stipend from FOSC to cover organizational expenses.

Weir River Jazz, directed by John Sacco, is a classic 'Big Band' jazz group. Directed and led by Mr. Sacco on lead alto saxophone, the group's experienced brass and woodwind players, percussionist, and vocalist enjoy improvisation. Their energetic, professional-level concerts including challenging repertoire of many origins, always with a 'swing.'

The Weir River Concert Band is a traditional community concert band comprising brass, woodwind and rhythm section players. Their narrated programs are ambitious, often incorporating music composed for the movies and Broadway, holiday tunes with humor, and 'pops' orchestra arrangements. Joanne Meegan, President is primary contact for anyone wishing to join or to have more information.
