Description
Hear some of the most celebrated music for piano trio as we introduce gifted artists from the core chamber ensemble who perform regularly as members of the New Bedford Symphony and in their high-quality chamber music series concerts.
Janice Weber, pianist is a summa cum laude graduate of the Eastman School of Music. She has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, at the National Gallery of Art, and Boston's Symphony Hall. Among her many recordings are Rachmaninoff's complete transcriptions; Leo Ornstein's vast Piano Quintet, with the Lydian Quartet. Performing Liszt's last Hungarian Rhapsody, she is one of only two living pianists to be included in a compendium of historic performances by nineteen legendary artists. This disc subsequently won the International Lizst Prize. Ms. Weber is also a published author of seven novels.
Violinist Sasha Callahan has established a vibrant career as a recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has performed extensively throughout North America, Europe and Japan, and is a founding member of the Lunaire String Quartet and Kalistos Chamber Orchestra. She is especially interested in projects that make classical music approachable by forging connection and community between audience and performers.
Leo Eguchi, cellist, has been described as 'copiously skilled and competent' by The New York Times. Principal cellist of the New Bedford Symphony, Mr. Eguchi won a prize at the 2021 ProCello International Cello Competition and has performed on several GRAMMY nominated releases from Parma recordings. He is a strong advocate of new music who also enjoys sharing the non-classical stage. He co-founded the Williamette Valley Chamber Music Festival and Sheffield Chamber Players, and performs as a member of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the New Hampshire Music Festival, and the Portland Symphony. He is married to Sasha Callahan.
