Kylie Fitzpatrick in conversation with Jayne Sadgrove

Frome-based author, Kylie Fitzpatrick’s bestselling novel, Tapestry, was first published in 2002.   A revised, celebratory edition will be released in June 2026 to mark the historical visit to the UK of the Bayeux Tapestry.

Tapestry tells the tale of two women, nine centuries apart.   In Westminster 1064, Leofgyth, royal embroiderer, stitches a secret narrative that will outlast empires.   While in Normandy, 2018, academic Madeleine has devoted her life to medieval studies.   Across nine hundred years, their story reveals the truth behind the Bayeux Tapestry, the most enigmatic artefact in history, and bears witness to the moment England was changed forever.

Kylie is an author, presenter and educator.   Her five historical novels have been published in eleven languages.   She holds Masters and Doctoral degrees in Literature and Creative Writing, is a publishing consultant, and hosts writing events in the UK and internationally.

Jayne Sadgrove is a historian and the Chair of the Frome Society for Local Study.

Together they will explore the novel, the writing of history as fiction and its role in bringing history alive for people today.

Doors open 7pm, conversation with Kylie and Jayne starts 7.30pm
