Derek Niemann has been writing for the world’s oldest newspaper nature column since 2003.  After penning about 450 features for the Guardian’s country diary from Bedfordshire, he transferred to Frome in the summer of 2024 and has been trying to capture the town’s natural and historic character ever since.  What has Derek discovered about our town and its surroundings?  Where has he explored and what has he found?  How is our local environment doing?
