Frome's Big Bat Count #1

Help us monitor Frome’s bat population 🦇

Last year we had two very successful bat counts, recording around 200 bats of 9 different species at sites across Frome. Now its time to do it again. We are seeking volunteers of all ages to take part in this year's first community bat count, in various locations across the town.

Somerset Bat Group will be on hand to lend out equipment and show us how to use it - so no past experience is necessary - just book your ticket and come to the Town Hall ready to be out later in the evening spotting bats!

We'll all meet at 8pm at Frome Town Hall to collect equipment and learn how to use it, then head out at 9pm (during sunset) to start counting at our respective locations. You'll be asked to select one of the following locations when you sign up:

• Willow Vale
• The Dippy
• Welshmill (behind Cheese & Grain)
• Lower Innox
• East side of Rodden Meadow
• Packsaddle
• The Butts
• Victoria Park and Keyford
• Egford Park and Broadway Community Gardens
• The Old Showfield
• ‘Suggest a location’ option

This event is organised by Frome Wild Bunch and Frome Town Council in partnership with Somerset Bat Group.
