Community woodland planting sessions

Mon 2 Mar 2026 10:00 AM - Sun 8 Mar 2026 2:30 PM GMT Community woodland at Spring Gardens

A new community woodland is taking shape at Spring Gardens, in memory of much-loved Frome resident Moko Sellars, who died in 2022 aged 39. A 99-year lease has been granted free of charge by the land’s owners and a crowdfunder organised by Moko's friends and family has raised the funds to develop the site into a tranquil, accessible green space for the whole community.

3,800 saplings is a lot...and that's where you come in! Book a two-hour slot to join us between Monday 2 March and Sunday 8 March to plant almost four thousand native trees and hedgerow at the new woodland, to be enjoyed for generations.

Getting there
There is no parking available on site. Volunteers are asked to arrive on foot or park nearby and walk to the woodland. Access is via Spring Gardens, and a location map and arrival information will be sent by email to everyone who books a session.

Session times

  • Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 March: 10am, 12.30pm and 2pm
  • Wed 4, Thursday 5 and Friday 6 March: 2pm
  • Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March: 10am and 12.30pm

All ages are welcome at the tree planting and no experience or tools are needed — training and equipment will be provided on the day. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gardening gloves if they have them, dress for the weather and wear wellies or walking boots. Refreshments will be available all day and there will be toilets on site.

Please book one ticket per participant, even if you are coming as a group. Booking is essential, as any changes due to weather conditions will be communicated by email each day. School groups will receive a separate invitation to attend planting sessions.
