Frome Big Bat Count 2026
We've got a full roost of bat counters! While May's count is now sold out, please sign up to the waitlist if you are interested in coming to our next bat count in August.
We are seeking volunteers of all ages to take part again in a community bat count, in various locations across the town.
Our partners at Somerset Bat Group will be on hand to lend out equipment and show us how to use it, so no prior experience is necessary: just book your free ticket for one of the locations listed below.
On the day we will meet at Frome Town Hall at 8 PM for a briefing. Afterward, you'll travel to your chosen location in a team of up to 6, where the count will begin at 8:45 PM and last for one hour. Once finished, you and your team will return to the Town Hall for a debrief and to return the equipment. When selecting your bat count location, please ensure you can get there and back. Be prepared for a moderate amount of walking during the event, and car access or share will be required to get to some of the locations on time.
For any questions about the event, please contact Jo Morris jmorris@frometowncouncil.gov.uk. Please note Jo will be away from 30 March to 7 April and will be unable to answer any queries during that time.
Cancellations: If you have booked a ticket and are no longer able to attend, please use the 'Manage Tickets' link on the right or contact Frome Town Council on 01373 465 757.
