Have you recently returned to cycling? Or tried it for the first time? Frome Town Council are offering free bike safety checks and cycle training to support anyone getting out and about on their bike.

There is a choice of adult traffic free training for those who can ride a bike but want to get more confident with steering, braking, signalling and changing gears, and bike rides for those who are confident cycling on quiet roads but would like some coaching on a bike ride including positioning, using junctions, route planning and riding as a family group. Each session is open to up to 5 people, and social distancing will be maintained throughout.
All sessions are free but a £1 booking charge will apply.
Cycle training sessions:
Saturday 5 September
9:45am – 11:00am and 11:15am – 12:30pm - Up to 5 people per session
A family ride along the Colliers Way. Learn how to ride together as a family and discover the traffic free Colliers Way.
All adults must be accompanied by at least one child and all children must be accompanied by an adult. All under 18's MUST wear a suitable, well fitting helmet, for anyone over 18 a helmet is optional. All bikes must be roadworthy with two working brakes. Ride Leaders reserve the right to refuse participants who they do not feel can manage the ride, or whose equipment is unsafe.
Children in bike seats/trailers welcome but due to Covid they do count towards the 5 person limit so please book them in as another participant.
Please bring a drink and snack for you and your children, these must not be shared. Parents/guardians remain responsible for their children at all times.
Distance 5-6 miles. Level Easy/beginner. Flat, paved surfaces. Meet in Radstock at the car park on Somervale Road, near the Co-op.
Laura, our female instructor, will contact you prior to the session to confirm details with you.
Note: There will be 2 instructors leading different groups of 5 on this date. Please choose a ticket group with the number of tickets you need available, as both groups will leave at different times.

10am – 11am and 11:30am – 12:30pm - Up to 5 people.
Beginners coaching session for adults at the Old Showfield, meet at Frome Cricket Club car park, off Rodden Road BA11 2AT.
In a traffic free setting, build confidence through bike games and practicing using brakes and gears, starting and stopping, approaching junctions, traffic islands, riding with others and more.
Laura, our female instructor, will contact you prior to the session to confirm details with you.
All bikes must be roadworthy with two working brakes. Ride Leaders reserve the right to refuse participants whose equipment is unsafe.
Sunday 13 September
10am – 11:00am and 11:30am – 12:30pm - up to 5 people per session
Beginners coaching session for adults at Keyford Court, Marston Trading Estate, Manor Furlong BA11 4BD. This is near the Frome Recycling Centre and can be accessed from the Trading Estate or through a footpath from Little Keyford Lane.
In a traffic free setting, build confidence through bike games and practicing using brakes and gears, starting and stopping.
Alex, our male instructor, will contact you prior to the session to confirm details with you.
