The BIG Sing Essex Gospel Choir performance at Union Chapel

Join us to perform with some prestigious artists at Union Chapel.  HOW EXCITING IS THIS?!

How fantastic that we have been invited to perform as the backing choir for David Grant and other artists at this event at Union Chapel.

INVITE TO BOOK  If you registered interest for this event and have received a personal invitation then you may now book this event and secure your coach space.  

What is the event?  A brand new show featuring David Grant and Phil Fearon & Galaxy.    Howard will be preparing the parts for us to learn and we will be taught them in one main workshop together.  Then we can organise our own extra rehearsals between us as we did for the Nu Colours event and then we meet back together to record the parts before the event itself.

Am I eligible to register? To be eligible to register your interest, please make sure you meet the following criteria:

• You are a regular member of Essex Gospel Choir or a BIG Sing Community Choir.
• You are available in the afternoon and evening (from APPROX 2 pm) on 31st July to get the coach to the event.
• You are actively attending rehearsals and understand that this is a GOLD event, meaning 3 out of the 4 rehearsals prior to the event should be attended
• Please register you interest BEFORE or by 30th May 2026.

What do I need to commit to?  To prepare for this event we need a workshop where we will teach you the medley, a recording session where we will record the vocals and the coach to the event.  Details as follows:-

1.  Sunday 28th June 1-5pm  Workshop to learn the songs in Chelmsford  Cost £15 but FOC for ANNUAL passholders.

2. Sunday 12th July 1-5pm Recording workshop to record vocals in Chelmsford. Cost £15 but FOC to ANNUAL passholders.

3. Friday 31st July: COACH to Union Chapel and the event. Cost £30 as usual.  Boarding points/times will likely be:  1pm Chelmsford; 1.20pm Rayleigh Grange, 1.50 pm The Oak bus stop, Grays to arrive at the venue by 3pm

What are the next steps? There limited spaces for this event, meaning spaces are limited. Please answer all the questions on the check out form confirming what you can and cannot attend and that you understand the costs involved.  We will then delegate spaces fairly based on Alto, Tenor, Soprano sections, rate of attendance and whether you can attend the workshop and recording session prior to the performance. If you don't get a space straight away, don't panic because we will automatically add you to the waiting list!

MAIN EVENT DETAILS:

LOCATION: Union Chapel

TRAVEL:  We will all travel together by coach

UNIFORM - GOLD EVENT: TBC:  Smart white tops or jackets, black trousers, smart black shoes

COACH TIMES WILL BE UPDATED IN EARLY JULY 

TIMINGS:  Sound check approximately 4pm but TBC!
 
SHOW TIME: Doors 7pm  Showtime 7.30 pm

The soundcheck is a really important time to get the sound levels right. Expect to hear feedback, loud noises as the engineers get the levels right. Also it takes time to get the levels in the monitors right so you can hear the music. Please just be patient, it is a process and we will need you to be quiet and only sing when directed so we can get the best sound for our performance.  No talking at all on stage please.  If there are any problems on the day only talk to our tutors and they will sort them out.
WATER: you may take a plastic bottle of water (with a lid) on stage. (no hot drinks or metal water containers please)

Most of all please help one another, guide each other, be considerate and be kind to each other - we are family!
