About Fuckup Nights
Fuckup Nights is a global movement born in Mexico in 2012 to share publicly business failure stories. Hundreds of people attend each event to hear three to four entrepreneurs share their failures. After each speaker, there’s a question/answer session, as well as time for networking
The speakers
Marcel Wijermars (34) is the founder of the Amsterdam Founders Community, @nomorenetworking.
He hosts sold-out events every month and is regularly invited to speak at events across Europe on topics such as monetizing events and growing businesses through the power of community.
Discover Marcel’s story as an unschooled entrepreneur who learned to build profitable businesses through trial and error.
From earning €40,000 per month at age 21 to losing it all, facing bankruptcy, and climbing back up to co-found a successful tech business in the US, Marcel eventually launched a thriving founders community in Amsterdam.
Marcel reveals the lessons he’s learned - from disastrous investment decisions that cost him everything to the strategies that helped him recover and come back stronger.
Liedweij Loorbach
Sprinklr started a webshop to make organic garden plants accessible to everyone, addressing the 2016 challenge of finding unsprayed plants. At the time, organic growers were scarce, online plant ordering was uncommon, and there was no logistics chain. Amidst our pioneering efforts, we were reassured by a partner who promised to handle shipping. We trusted them without question. But when it came time to ship 400 pre-sold packages in a week, we discovered that little had been arranged. Liedewij Loorbach will share her story and learnings
Anne Hospers
Anne Hospers (31) is the founder of Heartquarters. She’s a Business Muse and mentor for Creative Entrepreneurs shifting industries. Shining a light on their business blind spots. Because visionaries also need a extra pair of eyes and ears. She also connects with clients through events, group challenges and the written word.
3,5 years ago her business plateaued and she wanted to live ‘her potential’ and maybe make it into the Forbes 30 under 30. Inspired by the startup world she gave herself the 10x growth goal in a year.
Little did she know that that’s a speed not for the faint of heart. On the 4th of September she shares the good, bad and the ugly of overriding a season of your life.
Hannah Bahl
For our final speaker, we have Hannah Bahl, a seasoned Strategy Director with a passion for culture-centric, purpose-driven projects. Her work has spanned from transforming the bakery Fort Negen in Amsterdam into a local sensation to driving global sustainability initiatives for brands like Miele, Google, and more. But tonight, she’s here to share a failure about a sustainability project in Thailand that didn’t quite go as planned. Please welcome Hannah!
