Most people fuck up at some point...and most people live to tell the tale.

Fuckup Nights is a global movement and event series that shares stories of professional failure. Events across the globe get 3 or 4 people to get up in front of a room full of strangers to share their own professional fuckup/mistake. The stories of the business that crashes and burns, the partnership that goes sour, the product that has to be recalled, stories like these will all be told.

Welcome to our first event for Fuckup Nights Exeter, which will be held at Hotel Du Vin, Exeter on 1st May 2024.

At this event we will have three fabulous speakers who are going to share their mistakes. No happy ending for any of these three stories!

• David Gilroy - The offer for the business went north of £70m over a weekend. Come and hear what happened next.
• Claire Baker - Her fuckup resulted from a combination of growing her first business on the back of one very large client, and the last recession, which ultimately led to her bankruptcy.
  
• Andi Davies - Andi was promoted to Deputy Head level at a private boarding school at the age of 30 - but was this a huge mistake?  What you do think?
  

David is a serial entrepreneur and has built two marketing agencies, been part of a management team who raised £7.5m of venture capital as well as running several franchise businesses. Come and hear how he stayed on holiday when he should have got on a plane!

Claire's story tells of the mistakes she made, fuelled further by drug and alcohol addiction, and what she learned from the experience. Now on business no. 4, and 13 years sober, older, and wiser!

Andi was promoted to Deputy Head level at a private boarding school at the age of 30, totally unprepared and way beyond his competence. It eventually lead to him leaving of the education sector entirely!

This event is organised by John Harvey, Owner of The Samphire Club.  The majority of John's 30-year career had been spent in the corporate world, primarily logistics, but it was always his interest in people that came first: “I recognised, very early on, that no matter what business you're in, success is built on the relationships you develop with the people you meet.”
