Discover the marsh like never before with your family in this immersive Funky Fins Salt Marsh Science Expedition! Step into tidal creeks along the shoreline to hunt for crabs, snails, marsh plants, and other hidden creatures while uncovering how the living and nonliving elements of the marsh shape this vibrant ecosystem.

The excitement ramps up with hand-on learning where kids and adults safely learn about lively marsh inhabitants and build their own mini marsh ecosystem, gaining a deeper understanding of how every plant, animal, and tidal current connects to support life in this dynamic habitat.

Along the way, parents and kids will discover why living shorelines—with grasses, oysters, and natural coastal defenses—are crucial for protecting our coast while providing safe homes for wildlife.

This immersive, educational experience is perfect for families who want to spark curiosity, inspire a love of science, and create lasting memories exploring Topsail Island’s coastal wonders together. Muddy shoes, big smiles, and exciting discoveries guaranteed!

Important Information – Please Read Before Attending

• Meet up for programs will be 5-10 minutes before the program starts.

• Please be mindful that all programs will start and end on time.

• Each participant will be required to sign a waiver before participating.

• All participants— including adults — must have a ticket to attend.

• Children must be accompanied by a ticketed adult for the duration of the program.

• Please do not come to a program if you are sick.

• All programs are rain or shine unless otherwise noted.

• Programs are subject to cancellation only in the event of inclement weather or if minimum registration is not met, at the instructor’s discretion, in which case a credit will be issued to be used by the end of the season.

• Walk-ups are welcome if space is available.
