Sun 4 Aug 2024 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM BST
Gleneagles Townhouse, EH2 2AD
Description
If you are a funny woman visiting the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time, the Funny Women’s Glitter Project is here to support you. We have a team of mentors, some friendly events and even legal advice if you need it.
Join us in-person to get some first-hand advice from our experts who’ve all ‘been there, done that’ in some capacity. We all know how overwhelming it can be at the world’s largest arts festival, particularly if you’re new to comedy.
We will answer some of the most common questions such as:
- Which shows should I see?
- Are there open mics I can perform at?
- Where can I hang out with other comics, get a cheap meal, cry in private?
- HELP?!!!
We’ve clocked up over 20 years of supporting and developing new comedy talent at grassroots with our ground-breaking Awards, workshops, courses and open mic events. Our priority has always been to build confidence in female and non-binary performers, writers and creators to give them the opportunity to pursue comedy careers.
The Glitter Project has been made possible with a BBC Comedy Grant and support from Russells, which has a proud, 50-year history of advising clients in the entertainment industry. Read more about it here.
Our inspiration for The Glitter Project is Jo Fletcher-Cross, one of our non-executive directors and comedian, who was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour in summer 2022 on the eve of her Edinburgh debut. With Jo’s blessing we are creating an enduring legacy to encourage those who've already established a glittering comedy careers to share it as everybody deserves a ‘bit of glitter’ in their lives.
