Future Search in Virtual Space (FSVS) brings the principles, processes and collaborative experience of Future Search into an online environment. Developed to enable people to work together across distances, FSVS provides a way to bring the whole system into the room without everyone needing to be in the same physical place.

In this interactive workshop, we will introduce the FSVS approach and take you on a guided exploration of the technology platform that supports it.

Using Miro as our collaborative workspace, we will demonstrate how the familiar activities of a Future Search can be carried out online. You will see how participants work together to explore their shared past, make sense of their present, develop a common picture of the future, discover common ground and plan for action.

This will be a hands-on introduction, not simply a presentation.

Through live demonstrations and opportunities to explore the platform yourself, we will show how the different tools and resources are used, how participants interact with them, and how the technology supports the flow of a Future Search meeting.

We will also discuss some of the practical considerations involved in working virtually, including participant engagement, group interaction and the role of the facilitation team.

Who is it for?

This workshop is particularly relevant to people who have already trained in Future Search and would like to understand how the approach can be delivered online. It is also open to facilitators, consultants and others interested in large-group collaboration and participative approaches to change.

The session is intended as an introduction to FSVS and its possibilities, rather than a full training course in facilitating an online Future Search.
