Discover Creative Careers: Parent & Carer Information Event

Tue 6 Oct 2026 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM BST Online, Futures For All, Broadcast

Did you know that the UK's creative industries employ around 2.5 million people and support a wider creative economy of more than 4.3 million jobs? The sector contributes around £124 billion to the UK economy and has seen strong long-term growth, making it one of the country's most exciting and innovative industries.

Yet many parents and carers still wonder whether a creative career can offer the security, progression and opportunities their young person is looking for.

Join us for this free online event designed to challenge some of the biggest myths about working in the creative industries.

Hear directly from professionals working across sub sectors which include film, visual effects (VFX), music, craft and more, as they share their career journeys, the realities of working in the industry, and the wide range of opportunities available today.

Each speaker will give a short insight into their career before taking part in a live Q&A, giving parents and carers the opportunity to ask their own questions about routes into the sector, job prospects, qualifications, salaries, and what employers are really looking for.

Whether your young person is already considering a creative career or you're simply curious about the opportunities available, this session will provide practical advice and first-hand insights to help you support them in making informed career decisions.

Futures for All is proud to deliver the Discover Creative Careers programme as part of the Creative Careers Collective – a national consortium comprising Futures For All (lead partner), Creative UK and Creative Access, connecting young people, parents and educators with inspiring industry professionals and helping to showcase the breadth of careers available across the UK's thriving creative sector.

During the event you'll:

  • Hear from professionals working in a range of creative industries.
  • Learn about different career pathways and entry routes.
  • Discover why the creative industries offer rewarding, sustainable careers.
  • Ask your own questions during a live Q&A with industry speakers.
