Need help?
Herbicide resistance in arable weeds is an increasingly common challenge across the UK, with resistance to a number of active ingredients having evolved over the last 35 years. To tackle this growing threat to arable crops, understanding herbicide resistance on your own farm is key, as is looking at other non-chemical control methods.
Join us for a talk, farm walk and discussion with a specialist from NIAB and Kieran Walsh from Grounded Agvice on the causes of herbicide resistance, preventative measures and non-chemical management techniques to reduce your weed burden. The farm walk will be an opportunity to see how innovative cultural and mechanical approaches can be used on the ground to keep on top of problem weeds. We will also discuss how you can get involved with the free herbicide resistance testing being offered by Thames Water who will join us to give a catchment update and information on their Catchment Fund.
Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the farm walk, refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Please note there will also be an optional factory tour around the Alvan Blanch factory following lunch.
BASIS & NROSO points will be available.
Thanks to Alvan Blanch for hosting this event.
