Gateway to Translation
En Route to 3D Printed Organs: the Role of Bio inks

Join us for this Gateway to Translation (G2T) webinar, on Thursday 30th September 2025 at 2pm. Our guest speaker is Dr Jasper Van Hoorick, CEO of BIO INX BV. Dr Van Hoorick will deliver a talk about recent progress in 3D printing of tissues and organs. Everybody is welcome to attend.

About our speaker
Dr Jasper Van Hoorick is a Belgian chemist and innovator who leads BIO INX, a Ghent‑based biotech startup specializing in advanced bioinks for 3D bioprinting. He has earned his doctorate from Ghent University and VUB, focusing his research on biodegradable polymers and multiphoton lithography for ocular tissue regeneration. He co-authored over 30 peer reviewed publications in the field of 3D bioprinting. In 2022, together with other colleagues from the research group of professor Sandra Van Vlierberghe, he spun out BIO INX, with the mission to develop high‑precision bioinks for tissue engineering and drug-testing applications. The aim is to advance to bioprinting of functional human tissues and organs for research and regenerative medicine. Under his leadership, BIO INX is now a global player in biofabrication materials, continuing to partner on cutting-edge research and commercialization of next-generation bioinks.

About the Gateway to Translation (G2T) webinar series

The “Gateway to Translation” (G2T) webinar series is a joint initiative between the University of Cambridge (Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences, CATS) and the University of Manchester (Translation Manchester). The aim of these monthly webinars is to stimulate the translation of research into the clinics by educating academics about trends, technologies and research in the commercial sphere and by facilitating collaborations between academia and the medtech, biotech and pharma industry sectors. Recordings from previous webinars are available on the Translation Manchester and CATS websites.
