Description
In partnership with Global Minnesota - Join us for a screening of the Swiss/German Documentary "This Kind of Hope"
Released in 2023 the documentary tells the story of diplomat, Andrei Sannikov, who was instrumental in Belarus' nuclear disarmament in the 1990s. Under dictator Lukashenko, he resigned from the civil service and began the fight for a democratic Belarus, which cost the lives of companions and landed him in prison for a time. Today, as a stateless diplomat, he tirelessly tries to interest Western politicians in his homeland.
The film is in English, Russian and Belarusian with German subtitles. Screening will take place in the GAI Ballroom, 3rd Floor, not ADA accessible.
The following evening, April 10, join Global Minnesota and East View Information Services for a special presentation from Ambassador Sannikov, where he’ll explore the complicated and tight-knit relationship between President Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and what their relationship means for the greater question of security in Eastern Europe and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
