Join GCC at Tate Modern for a special gathering bringing together leading voices from science, art and culture to explore how we can accelerate action on the climate and nature crisis.
The morning will open with a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing, a powerful 50-minute film bringing together leading experts to explain, as clearly as possible, what the latest science says about the climate and nature crisis, how it is already affecting our lives, and what can still be done.
Rather than headlines or politics, the film offers a concise, evidence-based overview from experts across areas including climate, food, health, economics, national security and extreme weather. This is an opportunity to engage with the latest evidence and consider its implications for the future of our sector alongside peers.
Following the screening, we’ll turn to the role of art and culture in building momentum for change, with a panel discussion on positive tipping points: moments when shifts in ideas, behaviour and social norms gather pace and help transform society.
Bringing together scientific research, artistic practice and experience from the sector, the panel will feature Peter Lefort, Green Futures Network Manager at the University of Exeter, whose work explores positive tipping points in practice, and Heather Ackroyd, artist and environmental campaigner, with Frances Morris, Chair of Gallery Climate Coalition, moderating the discussion.
Who is this event for?
This event is intended for people working across the visual arts, including artists, galleries, museums, arts organisations and cultural practitioners. GCC members and colleagues from across our wider network are warmly invited.
