Description
Ellis Paul doesn’t just play music—he brings stories to life. With a guitar in hand and a heart full of humanity, he crafts songs that dive deep into the human condition, reflecting the hopes, loves, and losses of those around him. His music sticks with you, getting under your skin and flowing through your veins. Influenced by legends like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon, as well as his greatest inspiration, Woody Guthrie, Ellis Paul masterfully blends personal experiences with pressing social issues, creating songs that feel both timeless and timely.
Born and raised in Maine, Paul’s journey to folk stardom began at Boston College, where he earned a track scholarship by day and became a staple of the city's open mic scene by night. Winning the Boston Acoustic Underground songwriter competition caught the attention of folk great Bill Morrissey, leading to the release of his indie debut Say Something in 1993. That was just the start. Soon after, Paul inked a deal with Rounder Records and dropped Stories in 1994, launching a career that has seen his songs featured in films like Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, and Hall Pass, and covered by country stars like Sugarland and Jack Ingram.
With an incredible 23 albums under his belt, Ellis Paul’s influence and artistry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Kerrville New Folk Award, 15 Boston Music Awards, and the prestigious 2019 International Acoustic Music Awards Artist of the Year. His latest album, 55, released on his own Rosella Records label, reflects on gratitude in challenging times.
Join us for an unforgettable evening with Ellis Paul—a master storyteller, a soulful performer, and a living legend of American folk. Let his music carry you through an emotional journey like no other.
