That’s Life present In Flow - a unique, immersive performance combining Javanese Gamelan, improvisation and visuals. A collaboration with facilitator and jazz musician Aengus Hackett, the ensemble has been working intensely together for the past two years, composing and developing a new approach for using improvisation to make music on the Gamelan. Central to the sound of In Flow is the electronic processing of the acoustic instruments. Featured in the ensemble are musician/producer Simon Kenny, and one of Ireland’s leading jazz drummers, Matthew Jacobson. Live visual projections will augment the music, resulting in a dynamic and truly immersive performance. Unique in the realm of Arts & Disability, In Flow’s progress as a group has been documented in a short film by AMW Visual. This documentary will be screened prior to the performance. In Flow is supported by both Arts Council Ireland and That’s Life; the award-winning arts programme of the Brothers of Charity Services, Galway which offers people with intellectual disability opportunities to discover and realise their artistic potential through working with established artists.
