Join Gamelan Naga Mas, the Glasgow Gamelan Group for an evening of traditional and contemporary gamelan music. Played on the beautiful Spirit of Hope gamelan instruments from Central Java made by Pak Suhirjan.
Gamelan are the traditional tuned percussion instruments of Indonesia. Glasgow commissioned a set in 1990 when Glasgow held the designation City of Culture. Gamelan Naga Mas formed in the 1990s around these instruments and have played and cared for the instruments since then.
Tickets are free and we invite you to make a donation to support the ongoing costs of our group rehearsals and upkeep of the instruments - thank you.
