ABOUT US
Game On was set up by Jack Newton in 2017. Growing up, Jack was always a keen sportsman and at 11 years old, fell into rugby. Since then, he hasn't looked back. He joined Hove Rugby Club as a Junior and played all the year groups until senior rugby. Jack studied Sports and Exercise Science along with Physical and Sport Education at St Mary's University, Twickenham and now works as a teacher at an SEND school. Alongside his teaching, Jack is the current head coach at Hove Rugby Club, a previous county U15's-U20's coach and is now part of the Harlequins DPP set up. He also holds the England Rugby level 3 coaching award.
OUR AIMS
Our structured and varied coaching sessions focus on progression and development of both individual and teamwork skills. We look at the transferable core skills of sport across each session with an emphasis on rugby. All coaches have a 'games approach' when coaching which means we coach through games. These games are planned by the group coaches and are differentiated based on the level and age of their group.
In youth sport, we feel that not only is it important to develop the individuals physical game, but also to build a players competence, confidence, character and creativity. Coaching through scenario based games and activities challenges their way of thinking, developing their ability to read the game. These games complement each other by developing core sports skills such as agility, balance and control, thinking/decision-making skills etc.
All our coaches are fully qualified RFU coaches or qualified PE teachers, insured and CRB/DBS checked so you can be confident your child is in safe hands. They follow and adhere to the rules of play and the age grade regulations. Furthermore they are positive role models who are totally dedicated to running engaging, structured sessions with an emphasis on progression and development for each child.
A DAY AT CAMP
Our camp day starts with a whole camp warm up to allow players to get warm and ready for the day ahead. After this, each group will have four rugby and games sessions throughout the day which include looking at rugby specific skills and skills which are transferable to all sports. We also have two snack breaks (AM and PM) and a lunchtime which we have as a whole camp. Each group lead will plan the sessions accordingly and will differentiate where necessary to suit the ability of their group.
OurOctober camp is open to children in Years R- Year 6 at school. Once your child is at camp, they will then be separated into age appropriate groups.
