Pixel Art Fundamentals: Game Boy Edition

Fri 7 Nov 2025 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST Online, Zoom

Workshop Overview

Pixel art is a fun, creative, and technical medium in which individual pixels are placed with intent. While pixel art covers a broad range of styles, this particular workshop will focus specifically on creating sprites and tiles for retro games using extremely limited color palettes.

This workshop will introduce you to pixel art tools and fundamentals, including techniques for character design, efficient tile-set creation, and basic animation.

No experience required!

This is a companion workshop to GB Studio 101: Retro Game Design Made Easy, which walks you through making Game Boy games in GB Studio. You do not need to attend that workshop to come to this one. Pixel art techniques are transferable, and everyone is welcome.
