Day 2: Fiona MacLeod, The Elves & The Blackbird

Join The Blackbird and the Modern Theatre of Myth journeying with Fiona Macleod, William Sharp and the Elves through and step into an imaginal realm where the enhanted comes alive.

We start working to restore the opening scene from Fiona Macleod's "The Immortal Hour", into the Modern Theatre of Myth's wonderful recent production which premiered in Glastonbury in 2025 the Assembly Rooms. The scene is mostly between Dalua and Etain. We are delighted to explore the rich poetry and again hear it spoken (and sung) into the air. 

Next Fra Gunn with share the beautiful story "The Golden Fly" with us. Written by Ella Young, and accompanied by The Blackbird. "The Golden Fly" is an Irish perspective of Etain , Midir and others- the same characters found in the Immortal Hour yet delightfully different.

Finally, The Blackbird will premier his new CD release for us, in which he shares some new songs with text by Fiona Macleod: "The Last Fay", "The Washer of the Ford", and number of pieces from his version of The Immortal Hour, and few new arrangements of traditional songs "The King of the Fairies" and "Thomas the Rhymer" and he will premier a new song written for text by Hazrat Inayat Khan: "Thy Wish", and some other surprises.

He with be accompanied by Glastonbury's own Jenny Bliss Bennett on Cello and Viol da Gamba, Karola Elssner (Germany) on Armernian Duduk, Bass Clarinet, and Alto Sax, Claire Wilson (UK) on English Horn and Oboe, Robert Paul (US) on Piano together known as The Blackbird's Chamber Folk Ensemble.
