Gardens & Heritage Tour

Experience the renewal of Gatcombe Estate, an historic Georgian jewel set in the heart of the Isle of Wight and now in the early years of a ten-year restoration. Over two hours, you will walk through its eighteenth-century park and gardens, laid out in the spirit of the English Landscape Movement, as your guide draws together two threads: the work now underway to restore these grounds and open them fully to the public, and the deeper history of an estate that has stood for a thousand years, predating the Domesday Book itself. PLEASE NOTE : this is a two-hour walking tour over historic parkland, with grass, gravel and uneven, sloping ground and no step-free access. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility. As we restore the gardens to the public, accessibility will be central to our future plans.
