Description
POSTPONED:
Due to inclement weather and low participation rate, we have made the decision to postpone this event until next year. Keep an eye out for updates for a new date.
Thanks for your interest,
The Gaze Burvill Team
Gaze Burvill is thrilled to be hosting another 'Tread for Trees & Timber' event in aid of Woodland Heritage at Lodge Farm on Friday 4 October 2024. Lodge Farm is Gaze Burvill's Hampshire HQ and is nestled in the beautiful South Downs countryside and a 10km and 5km route has been devised to either run or walk, starting and finishing at Lodge Farm, taking in the abundant natural beauty in the local area on the way, all the while raising funds and awareness for Woodland Heritage. We will be offering refreshments and cake after the event in our Courtyard Garden at Lodge Farm.
Please note that this is not a race and no prizes will be given for the fastest time.
The event is open to villagers of East Tisted, Newton Valence, Farringdon and Selborne and as well as friends, family, supporters and Woodland Heritage members.
Fundraising
Participation in the event is free, but we do ask that participants help us to achieve our fundraising target of £8000 with a suggested donation of £20 via our Just Giving Page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/gaze-burvill and Gaze Burvill will match the first £4,000 raised!
Alternatively, if you feel in the mood to fundraise, please consider setting up your own JustGiving page and asking for sponsorship. Simply click this link, sign up and set your own fundraising target.
All donations will help Woodland Heritage to work towards its vision of ‘A UK more self-sufficient in timber grown in healthy, well-managed woodlands that benefit people and wildlife.’
Parking
There is limited parking available at Lodge Farm so please let us know if you are coming by car so we can manage numbers.
Route
The route is shown on the maps below. There will be arrows pointing you in the right direction at critical points, so it should be easy to follow.
About Woodland Heritage
Woodland Heritage was founded in 1994 by Peter Goodwin and Lewis Scott, who quickly secured the backing of a group of traditional cabinet makers, who collectively wanted to improve the way in which trees were grown, maintained and harvested in the UK.
The small group of environmentally minded producers was rapidly joined by many hundreds of individuals with concerns for our woodland environment: furniture retailers, timber merchants, tree growers and colleges.
Nearly 30 years later, Peter and Lewis’ ‘acorn’ of a charity has grown and achieved so much, thanks to the backing of people and organisations that believed, and continue to believe, in the vision of the two Founders and who have helped Woodland Heritage to succeed.
