Discover the Art of Wood Culture: An Exclusive Workshop Tour & Talk

As part of Woodland Heritage's Open Woods and Workshops Gaze Burvill are giving you the opportunity to see behind the scenes of their Hampshire furniture making workshops.

Tickets are £10 each. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Woodland Heritage

Nestled in the rolling Hampshire countryside, the Gaze Burvill workshops are filled with skilled craftspeople making both interior and outdoor furniture using the finest woods, many locally sourced and grown in Britain.

Come join a tour where you will have the opportunity to meet the designers and craftspeople behind Gaze Burvill's classic pieces to understand how modern machinery is combined with traditional craftsmanship to create such innovative pieces built to last a lifetime outdoors, including a steam bending demonstration.

We will also gather in the Flint Barn for an inspiring 'In Conversation' with:

Tony Kirkham MBE VMH, former Head of Arboretum, Gardens & Horticulture Services at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew,
Simon Burvill, Founder and CEO of Gaze Burvill and also a Trustee of Woodland Heritage
John Orchard, CEO of Woodland Heritage
Iain Carter, Tree and Woodland Adviser, National Trust

Together, they will share insights from a lifetime dedicated to "Wood Culture," exploring how our future depends on the trees we grow and the sustainable timber we use today.

At 2pm the same day Gaze Burvill will be holding their annual Tread for Trees and Timber, a 10k walk (and an alternative 10k run if enough people express interest!) around the glorious countryside surrounding the workshop to raise funds for Woodland Heritage. If you would like to stay after the open morning you are welcome to bring lunch to eat in the courtyard garden (or Flint Barn if the weather is so inclined!) and join us for the walk in the afternoon. The event is free to enter however we suggest a contribution via Gaze Burvill's Just Giving page - or if you don't fancy taking part you can support those who are by donating!

Please register for Tread for Trees and Timber here.

About Woodland Heritage

We all use wood, but we do not all grow trees!

Woodland Heritage are helping to protect our British woodlands by creating a thriving UK wood culture that benefits our environment, all people and our economy. They are doing this by championing the good use of home-grown timber from sustainable, productive woodlands for the benefit of present and future generations. Through a combination of demonstration sites, research, education, membership and outreach, they are building on the wisdom and skills of the past to weather the challenges of tomorrow.

Grow trees. Use wood. For our future.
