🐻 Teddy Bear Clinic – Playful Deaf Celebration Day

In collaboration with arts and play organisation Toy Like Me, join Gloucestershire Deaf Association for a joyful, inclusive day of play, imagination, and celebration for Deaf and CODA children and their families 💛

Bring your teddy and step into our magical Teddy Bear Clinic, featuring a Bear Ear Clinic roleplay experience, a special BSL storytelling of Can Bears Ski? by Raymond Antrobus and Polly Dunbar, and a toy hearing device for every child to take home.

This relaxed, playful event is all about confidence, identity, and connection through creativity and play.

✨ Activities include:
🧸 Teddy Bear Clinic roleplay experience (bring your favourite soft toy!)
🎨 Decorate toy hearing aids, cochlear implants, or BAHA
📚 BSL story time (Can Bears Ski?)
🖍️ Colouring competition with prizes and displayed artwork
🎲 “See It Be It” lotto game featuring 80 Deaf adults and their jobs
🧩 Stay & play with Deaf-friendly toys, LEGO, dolls and games
📖 Cosy reading and storytelling spaces
🤝 A welcoming space to meet and connect with other families

🥪 Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided

🕒 SESSION TIMES (IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ)

Families with children of different ages should book based on the Deaf or hard of hearing child’s age:

🕙 10:30am – 12:30pm
Deaf and hard of hearing children UNDER 5 YEARS (including siblings)

🕐 1:00pm – 4:30pm
Deaf and CODA children over 5 Years (including siblings)

All sessions are drop-in within your allocated time slot.

💛 Important Information

These sessions are open to all children with any level of hearing loss, including temporary hearing loss. We support total communication, meaning we will support your child in whichever way works best for them.
