D-Rod the Poet, aka Tampa's #YourPoetryAmbassador, is a native of New York and has been performing for over 20 years. A member of Black On Black Rhyme & Lyrical Aspiration poetry troupes, he also hosted Island Vibez, The Event, & The VIBE Open Mics in Tampa. 

As a Slam Poet, D-Rod ranked 7th in the nation in 2023's final slam and was a member of the Breaking Bad Slam Team that ranked 17th in the nation. 

His accolades include: 2 Time Best Of The Bay Finalist. 2023 Deland Fall Festival Grand Champion. 2024 Granada Grand Festival of the Arts Slam Champion. 2024 Granada Grand Festival Haiku Slam Champion and Co-host of Florida's ONLY Spoken Word radio show "Poetry Is"
