Raku day course (current students only)

Raku classes with Jaward and Gemma

Come along for a day of Raku firing with Jaward and Gemma. Jaward will be bringing his expertise along with him, has a lot of practice in Raku firing he will be guiding you throughout the day. Raku is unpredictable and exciting and will result in some pieces quite different to your usual surfaces. This is a good chance to experiment and see an alternative firing technique.

There will be glazes there for you to use. Each person may bring 3 pots along no larger than 15cm in height and 10cm in width, these must be bisque fired already. The clay you use must be raku clay, Gemma will have some in the studio so please ask her for some to use during your classes or if you are taking home, sculptural and thrown work is okay. We will be at a different temperature bracket for raku so if you are used to the studio glazes be aware that they will not be used for these pieces.

Bring packed lunch and drinks, there will be some snacks provided.
