Gem Quest - Hunt For The Cursed Ruby

This is a unique treasure hunt with several spooky twists and turns along the way. All activities take place in trusted local business venues and everything can be accessed by foot. Answers to all of the clues can be found outside in pedestrian areas of Folkestone. There will be small prizes to collect along the way and big prizes for the overall winners of this three day event. PLEASE NOTE! Gem Quest is not dangerous, physically demanding or likely to cause injury. It's a treasure hunt around town with fun activities to discover along the way. Regardless, you will be required to complete a liability waiver to acknowledge any risks and accept responsibility for yourself and your team members prior to taking part.

FAQs

Who can take part? 
Anyone of any age looking to have some fun around Folkestone. People aged 6 and under go free! You can play on your own or in teams of up to 6. No more than 6 people per team regardless of age please. For example, 4 tickets for ages 7- to adult and 2 free for kids aged 6 and under is a full team.

How long will it take?
As long as you like but we expect most teams to take around 1.5 - 2 hours. All activities in venues take place between 11am and 3pm so ideally you need to get going by 12:30 to get the most out of it. This is not a race, go at your own pace. There will be no rewards for being the fastest. 

How do we win prizes?
Everyone's a winner at Gem Quest! As you discover the hidden gems using your map, you'll take part in creative and fun activities, either to complete whilst you're there or take home with you. We can't tell you too much as this will spoil the fun! There will also be competitions along the way AND each ticket will automatically be entered into a prize draw. All prizes are child friendly and really rather cool. 

What can we win?
All prizes have been kindly donated by local independent businesses, including - The Folkestone Bookshop, Luben Pizza, Laes Studio, F51 Skate Park and Climbing Wall, Kidz Planet, Bounce Vintage, Lighthouse Comics, Objectables Cards and Gifts and Mugs Coffee Shop.

What happens once we've bought our tickets?
You will receive an email from Gem Quest with further instructions. You will have to sign a liability waiver claiming to take responsibility for yourself and you teams safety. Don't worry, nothing about this is at all dangerous and all clues are located in pedestrian areas. Once we have received your waiver, we will send you the clues. All parties that purchase the tickets will receive their clues at least 2 days prior to the event. Why can't I buy more than 6 tickets?
You can buy a maximum of 6 tickets per transaction because there should be no more than 6 players in a team. If you know other people that want to play, they will need to sign up themselves and buy tickets using a different email address.

What do we need to bring on the day?
You can either print your clues out or use the PDFs on your smartphones and make notes. It's up to you. Whether you use printouts or your phones, please bring a pen or two as well. Sensible footwear is advised as some of Folkestone's streets are cobbled. We also advise waterproofs and layers as most of this is outdoors and October weather is all over the shop. If you want to wear fancy dress you're more than welcome. 

Can we bring our dog?
Yes, you can bring your furry friends. Just please check that any venues you are entering are ok with them coming in too. 

What if we can no longer make it?
You can cancel your tickets and get a refund up to 7 days before the event. This cut off point is due to costs incurred by the provider such as printing, creative materials etc. If you want to reschedule we will help if we can. Email GemQuest@tutamail.com
