An Evening with Generate

You are invited to join us for an evening with Generate! 

Founded in 2025 by Dance Artist Karla Jones thanks to funding from Arts Council England, Generate encompasses an online network, connected via an active WhatsApp community, Facebook page and quarterly newsletters as well as the bi annual Generate Festival for older adult dancers and the Generate Creatives, a group of 10 dancers who meet regularly to perform in unusual spaces. 

An evening with includes the first exhibit of the Generate Creatives most recent project 'The Hollows'. The dancers shot on location in the Nottingham Caves where we were inspired by the textures, sounds and light distortions found there. How can we make ancient walls move? What imprints do we leave? What moves us in a place like this? How can we make a place like this come alive? This photography project was made possible with funding from the Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement with images by expert dance photographer David Wilson Clarke. 

We are also proud to present our screendance 'An I Away From Science'. The film has been selected to premier at 2 international older adult dance festivals this summer at HOST in Ipswich and Ageless in Leeds. It has also been featured more locally in the Roots and Reels Nottingham ecology film festival and is now part of our evening with. AIAFS was filmed on location at the HopBarn, Southwell with Space Face Films made possible with funding from the Arts Council's DYCP grant. 

Lastly we will hear from members of the Generate Creatives including a spoken word performance from Clee and a word from some of the dancers involved. 

There will be drinks and nibbles available free on the evening as well as a chance to chat, network and ask questions. We look forward to celebrating Generate's work over the past year and highlighting the wonderful opportunities for older adult dancers in our region and beyond.
