Genevive Walker (she/her/hers) is a Single Pitch Instructor and Rock Guide Apprentice who has been guiding for six years. She is an athlete for Mountain Hardwear, Evolv, Sterling, and DMM. She has spent most of her career guiding climbing trips and teaching climbing-based courses primarily for women and BIPOC climbers. Genevive has noticed and reaped the benefits of affinity spaces and wants to continue creating more outdoor spaces for folks to connect. She enjoys all types of climbing, and her goal for this trip is to share her love of the Red River Gorge with all of you.
Cindy Su (she/her/hers) was born and raised in Massachusetts and started climbing in 2013. She has been scaling walls all over the country, with a particular soft spot for her New Hampshire crags. While she found the climbing community to be tight knit and welcoming, she was craving to share the crag with other Women of Color. While completing her masters in social work, she joined Brown Girls Climb and started facilitating meet ups to create space for other Women of Color to connect and climb. She is passionate about combining her social work background with outdoor recreation to create and sustain inclusive affinity spaces where Folks of Color can learn how to climb in an authentic environment. Cindy is deeply involved with Brown Girls Climb as a Local Leader for the MA chapter. She is a co-founder of Summit in Color Collective where she works with other MA based Guides of Color to run People of Color specific climbing clinics. Cindy is dedicated to creating outdoor spaces that are both physically and emotionally safe, where people can have fun and create long lasting memories.
Rise Outside is a non-profit based in New Paltz, NY that's dedicated to normalizing diversity in the outdoors. Through guiding work and community support, they provide low-cost to free programming for groups who have traditionally encountered barriers in the outdoors.
