RETHINKING THE HARVEST
"Revolution is based on land.
Land is the basis of all independence.
Land is the basis of freedom, justice, and equality”
Malcolm X
Food constitutes our most necessary resource, next to water. Covid realities continue to reveal the deep inequities at the heart of our food systems. Isn't it time to scrutinise our historical relationships to land, to nature, to food production - and make a case for a radically different connection?
RETHINKING THE HARVEST is a Gentle/Radical online screening and discussion event exploring the intersections of race and colonialism in relation to issues of land justice. Following the screening of three short films, we'll hear from our invited panel speakers, followed by Q & A and wider discussion.
In light of the realities of disenfranchisement from land for communities of colour, how might we, in Wales, address these issues afresh within our nuanced colonial landscapes.
For this event we'll be joined by guest contributors Josina Calliste and Ọlá Ayòrindé of London-based LAND IN OUR NAMES (LION); Philip Henry, a community educator, artist and beekeeper; and Alice Taherzadeh, a community organiser and activist engaging with issues of ecological and social justice.
