Commercial-Scale CCS: A New Era Begins
Carbon Capture and Storage is moving into delivery.
Across the North Sea and beyond, projects are progressing through Final Investment Decision (FID) and into execution, with the first large-scale developments entering commercial operation. New storage licences and growing cross-border partnerships are reinforcing the region’s role as a key hub for CO₂ storage.
Momentum is building, but so are the challenges. Financing models, regulatory frameworks, long-term liability, storage integrity and project delivery will all influence how quickly CCS can be deployed at commercial scale.
CCS is now a critical component of the energy transition, particularly for hard-to-abate sectors.
GESGB CCS4G Symposium 2026
Now in its fifth year, the GESGB CCS4G Symposium brings together geoscientists, engineers and energy professionals working across Carbon Capture and Storage.
The 2026 symposium will focus on the practical realities of delivering geological CO₂ storage at commercial scale, from subsurface understanding and site characterisation through to storage integrity, commercial considerations and project delivery.
Designed for geoscientists, engineers and energy professionals, the symposium provides a focused space to stay informed, share insight and engage with the developments shaping CCS right now.
Who Should Attend?
- Geoscientists and geophysicists
- Reservoir and subsurface engineers
- CCS and CO₂ storage specialists
- Operators and project developers
- Energy and environmental professionals
- Regulators and policymakers
- Consultants and service companies
- Researchers and academics
- Professionals transitioning their skills into CCS
