Out and about session (9am-10:45am)

Cost for this session is £5.

This session offers volunteers the chance to collaboratively plan an enjoyable and well-organised day out. Participants will explore a range of activity options, carry out the necessary research, and learn what forms are relevant for your event. Working together, the group will plan a example day’s programme, prepare communication for participants or parents/carers, and develop a practical budget. This experience encourages teamwork, organisation, and shared decision-making, while providing a relaxed opportunity to socialise and meet other volunteers.

Outdoor skills session (11am-4pm)

Cost for this session is £25.

Build your confidence in delivering outdoor experiences by learning new skills or refreshing existing ones. This practical session will help you safely and confidently share outdoor adventures with your unit in a fun and engaging way.

During the day we will cover:

• Fire lighting for all sections, including safe supervision and simple cooking ideas
• How to pitch a tent, exploring different types of tents and their uses
• Correct care and storage of tents
• Planning an effective and safe campsite layout
• Wide games and how to adapt them for different age groups
• Menu planning for an outdoor residential
• Hands-on experience helping to cook lunch outdoors
• Sharing creative craft ideas suitable for residentials

A supportive, practical day full of ideas you can take straight back to your unit.

This day is would also be great experience for any planning or considering their GAW licence.

You can attend one session or both. If you would like to attend both, please select the "Both sessions" ticket.

Please wear uniform or activity wear. Please dress for the great British weather including waterproofs, wellingtons or walking boots; this is an outdoor event and ground can be uneven. 

Please bring a plate, cup, dish, knife, fork and spoon with you.
