30 East Drive in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, is a seemingly ordinary council house that has gained notoriety as one of the most haunted locations in the UK, if not the world. Its paranormal history primarily revolves around the Pritchard family, who moved into the house in August 1966 and were allegedly subjected to intense poltergeist activity for several years.

This event includes an optional sleepover...... if you dare!!!

Here's a brief overview of its paranormal history:

  • The Beginning of the Disturbances (1966): Shortly after the Pritchards moved in, strange occurrences began. These included a fine chalk-like dust falling from mid-air, pools of water mysteriously appearing, and green foam oozing from taps and toilets.
  • Escalating Phenomena: The activity intensified over time, with lights turning on and off, furniture moving, objects being thrown around the house, and loud banging noises. Plants were said to leap from their pots, and photographs were slashed.
  • "Fred" the Poltergeist: The family nicknamed the entity "Fred," sometimes referred to in the press as "Mr. Nobody" or "The Black Monk of Pontefract" after an apparition reportedly seen wearing dark robes.
  • Physical Manifestations: Unusually for poltergeist activity, there were claims of physical interactions, particularly with the younger daughter, Diane Pritchard. These included her being slapped, pushed, dragged up the stairs, and her hair being pulled.
  • Failed Attempts to Intervene: The Pritchards sought help from paranormal investigators and even a priest who attempted an exorcism. These efforts reportedly did little to stop the activity, with claims that holy water seeped from the walls and the entity reacted negatively to religious songs.
  • Media Attention and Investigations: The haunting at 30 East Drive attracted significant media attention and numerous paranormal investigations, including appearances on television shows like "Most Haunted."
  • Similarities to the Enfield Haunting: The events at 30 East Drive are often compared to the infamous Enfield Poltergeist case in London, which occurred about a decade later, due to the intense and prolonged nature of the activity and the focus on a young girl.
  • Ongoing Reputation: The Pritchard family eventually moved out in the 1970s, but the house continues to be associated with paranormal activity. It is now owned by a paranormal enthusiast and is a popular location for ghost hunts and tours, attracting visitors hoping to experience the alleged phenomena firsthand.
