Feminist creative collective Girl Gang Manchester turned ten in January 2026!

We had a massive party A DECADE: 10 Years of Us & You! where we asked What does it mean to evolve, thrive, persevere, survive and stay true to yourself and your values for ten whole years?

It was part retrospective, part relaunch and definitely part party, celebrating ten years of surviving and thriving as individuals, a community and a DIY feminist events collective in Manchester and included workshops, reunions, crafts, games, talks, performances, panels, art installations, decor, DJ’s and dancing!

We"ve been reflecting on the resilience required to persevere in an ever-evolving and progressively more expensive city, looking back over our approx FIVE HUNDRED EVENTS and projects, reviving some old classics and collectively calling in a promising future for us all.

The fact is, we haven"t had a successful funding bid since 2023. We don"t recieve any core funding to support our organising or activity. And so far this year have only recieved one micro commission of £1000.00.

BUT WE WANT TO MAKE WORK! FOR YOU! FOR US!

And so we"ve gone ahead and launched an entire Autumn Season...

The Season of the Witch:
Witches, Women, Magic, Misogyny, Marginalised.

Journey through Autumn with Girl Gang across hillsides, cityscapes, rituals, storytelling and screenings, to explore how histroric and modern misogyny can be traced back to the figure of the witch, and how they might help us today...

In our first ever thematic season, we continues to celebrate a decade of feminist creativity, collaboration and community with crafts, pop culture, rituals and rebellion. Inspired by the horrific histories and curious present manifestations of witchcraft which are both political and ethereal, the work explores resistance, autonomy, collectivity and care.

Season of the Witch showcases drag, discussion, dancing, folklore and nature, proudly presented with Girl Gang’s signature blend of theatricality, softness, resilience building, connection and reflection.

Running from September 22nd- November 22nd there are so many opportunities to join in: CHECK OUT THE FULL SEASON PROGRAMME HERE

SO, HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Firstly: Buy tickets! Come to our events and enjoy them with us in person! This is why we do it and makes all the hard work and passion worth it <3

Secondly: If you want to be extra supportive, please consider using the Solidarity, or even Angel Babe price, or donating additional cash at the check out- we are always trying to balance keeping things accessibly priced so our commuity are actually able to come and enjoy the work we make with us, and knowing how much price can be a barrier in how we are able to engage with cultrure and other events in the city, with the fact we are not even CLOSE to being properly paid to make this work, and have 10.5 years experience running this collective and 15+ in our wider freelance creative careers.

Thirdly, (and why you're here): If you're able and would like to- please consider donating to this fundraiser, the money from which will be used to support the season and get us a little closer to being paid (a little bit) for the months of work that has gone into creating something we believe will be truly magical.

ABOUT GIRL GANG MANCHESTER:

Girl Gang Manchester is a collective of artists, activists, academics and party instigators who create meaningful and magical live experiences. Our work has ranged from immersive screenings, experiential exhibitions, creative club nights, theatre, campaigns, creative workshops, social justice book clubs, support groups and zine; connecting people in Manchester over debates, discussions and dance floors since 2016!

Our values are creativity, community, collaboration and connection. We believe that everyone is an artist, popular culture can be profound and politics and feminism are for everybody. Our projects and spaces celebrate art and activism as powerful tools to understand ourselves, each other and the world around us. We believe people are empowered to step outside their usual comfort zones and surpass their own expectations when they’re having a lovely time and we’re proud that our spaces have been recognised as inclusive, fun and meaningful; encouraging people to be best selves, take up space, make new friends and collaborators and co-create and learn with others.

Foregrounding the talents, interests, ideas, issues and friendships of women and people of marginalized genders, our projects are an opportunity for both our artists and audiences to connect on an equal level to shine, skillshare and try new things. Unless (very rarely) explicitly stated otherwise, cis men are very welcome along at all our events so long as they are happy to give more space than they take, listen more than they speak and are comfortable slotting in as a minority in the space.

Find out more about our previous projects on our website or social media here!
