Girls in Politics Initiative DC Summer Intensive Program

*4 tickets available. Session limited to 20 students; Registration closes April 1 at 11:55mPT, early registration recommended. | The Girls in Politics Initiative DC Summer Intensive 2025 program takes place in the heart of the nation’s capital with participants surrounded by national monuments and staying just blocks from the United States Capitol. Participants explore the District of Columbia and during classroom sessions learn about the United States political system. Participants choose to run their own mock campaign for United States House of Representatives, United States Senate or for United States President. During the program participants meet with legislators, congressional staff and women working as professionals in the political sector. Parents and guardians are responsible for travel and accommodations for students traveling to Washington, DC to attend the program. This is a not a residential program. For students traveling to the District of Columbia, we recommend booking accommodations at Residence Inn National Mall, Hilton Washington DC National Mall, Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill or Kimpton George Hotel. Classroom: Orientation with introduction to the United States government, United States National Archives and Smithsonian Museum of American History

Tuesday | Day 2

United States Supreme Court tour with courtroom lecture, Library of Congress and *Bureau of Engraving & Printing

Wednesday | Day 3

United States Capitol Tour, United States House and United States Senate Galleries and Meeting with legislators and legislative staff Library of Congress

Thursday | Day 4

Classroom: Campaigning and careers, careers in the political sector, campaign finance and elections

Friday | Day 5

The *FBI Experience or *United States Pentagon Tour and Classroom: The Presidency and serving in Congress

Age and Program Capacity

This summer program is intended for girls between the ages of 12 and 17. The program capacity is 20 strictly limited to students.

Registration

Registration closes April 1, 2025 at 11:55pmPT. The registration fee includes all program materials and four Girls in Politics Initiative shirts.

Attire

Participants should wear comfortable attire that includes athletic shoes. Each participant will receive five Girls in Politics Initiative shirts to wear during the program.

Cancellation Policy

The registration fee is non-refundable. If a participant is unable to attend for any reason, a voucher for the tuition paid up to the date cancellation will be issued. The voucher may be used for any future program and will not expire. Vouchers can only be redeemed once.
