Virtual Camp Parliament for Girls United Kingdom is a live interactive online class that introduces girls ages 11 to 16 to the UK’s parliamentary system of government. Virtual Camp Parliament for Girls begins with a lesson the structure and history of the British Parliament. The lesson goes on to review the eligibility requirements to stand for office, a review of political parties, a study of the structure of elections and recognition of the UK’s female political leaders. Students will form political parties, create a campaign platform to stand for office, vote in a virtual election and form a government to pass a law. The class is limited to 12 students, no exceptions. The class will be hosted via GoToMeeting. We recommend students use a headset and microphone for the class to provide the best quality audio connection.

Is the registration fee refundable? The registration fee is non-refundable unless the GIP cancels a class. If a participant is unable to attend a class a credit will be placed on file with GIP that may be used at any time for a future class. The credit may be used one-time class transfer and the credit does not expire.

Where is the class hosted? The class will be hosted on Cisco WebEx platforms and will run 4 hours including two 10-minute breaks.

Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? No, the Girls in Politics Initiative is a private company that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting sessions.
