Camp Parliament for Girls Vancouver 2023 introduces girls to Canada's parliamentary system of government. Camp Parliament for Girls Toronto begins with a lesson the structure and history of the Canadian Parliament. The lesson goes on to review the eligibility requirements to stand for office, a review of political parties, a study of the structure of elections and recognition of Canada's female political leaders. Students will form political parties, create a campaign platform to stand for office, vote in an election and form a government to pass a law. Each student will serve as an MP. Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? No, the Girls in Politics Initiative is a private company that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting events.
Who are the instructors? Our Lead Instructors are women that currently or have previously worked in government or electoral politics. Our support staffers are current or former licensed teachers. Our instructors and support staff have criminal background checks and WWC cards.
