Jr Celebrate UN Day of the Girls with us at Camp United Nations for Girls New York City 2023 featuring a Day at United Nations Headquarters! Students will celebrate Day of the Girl and explore the year’s IDG theme. The themed exercise includes a discussion on the status of girls and ways girls can continue working to improve their lives.  Our Camp United Nations for Girls New York City 2023 is a two-day program that includes the activities outlined below. This is a day-program with parents being responsible for accommodations of those traveling to NYC to participate.

Day 1 - United Nations Headquarters (8am to 3pm)

United Nations Headquarters' Exhibits

Lunch on site at Vienna Café

United Nations Private Briefing and NGO Briefing

Day of the Girl Activity 

Day 2 - Conference Center (8am to 12pm)

Camp United Nations begins with a lesson on the history of the United Nations and the organization’s purpose. This is followed by a study of the structure, leadership, and the rules of procedure of the United Nations. Each student will be given an assignment to serve as a delegate for a UN Member State. When the General Assembly convenes delegates will propose a resolution. The resolution will be subject to negotiation and amendment by the UN Delegates before a vote on a final version of the resolution. Girl Scouts and Girl Guides earn a Global Action Award or World Thinking badge for participating in Virtual Camp United Nations for Girls.

This session is for girls ages 9 to 11. Frequently Asked Questions and COVID-19 Protocols

Is the registration fee refundable? The registration fee is non-refundable unless the organizer cancels the session. If a participant is unable to attend a session a credit will be placed on file that may be used at any time for a future program. The credit does not expire.

Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? No, the Girls in Politics Initiative is an independent organization that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting sessions. The curriculum is civic education.

Is financial aid available? Financial aid is available on a first come, first serve basis. Email finance@girlsinpolitics.com to for all financial aid inquiries.

Who are the instructors? Our Lead Instructors are women that currently or have previously worked in government or electoral politics. Our support staffers are current or former licensed teachers. Our instructors and support staff have criminal background checks and WWC cards.

COVID-19 Policy (Updated November 1, 2022)

To ensure the health and security of our participants, instructors and support staff, the Girls in Politics Initiative has implemented the following policy:

Everyday prevention measures (regardless of COVID-19 Community Level)

  • COVID-19 screening testing for students and staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated); Rapid testing sufficient within 24 hours of the program start.
  • Masking optional; GIP staff will be masked
  • Staying home when sick
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette for staff and students
  • Optimizing indoor ventilation and air quality
  • GIP staff will be cleaning and disinfecting workstations.

Enhanced prevention measures for High COVID-19 Community Levels

  • COVID-19 vaccination
  • Masks/respirators
  • COVID-19 screening testing for students and staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated); Rapid testing sufficient within 24 hours of the program start.

Regardless of COVID-19 community level, we encourage everyone to respect the choice of others who wish to wear a mask.
