Ladies Thai Boxing: Beginner + Fundamentals

Sat 12 Sep 2026 8:55 AM - 10:00 AM Boxers Booth, G51 2RL

You asked and we listened. We know a few of our community have been gasping for ladies martial arts so here we are!

Welcome to our ladies only beginner/fundamentals Thai boxing class designed specifically for anyone who has always been curious about martial arts but hasn’t known where to start.

No experience. No pressure. No getting punched in the face (promise). Come and learn the foundations of Thai boxing, starting from the basics and building everything up slowly.

This is a fun beginner session, not a fight camp. Come to learn something new, move your body, make some pals and see what Thai boxing actually feels like.

🎟️ Girls Collective Member £13 | Non-member £16 (both plus platform booking fee (£0.89))

Not a member yet? Join the Collective to access discounted events and other member perks and exclusives.

Coming solo? Please do! As with our other Glasgow Girls Collective events, you absolutely do not need to bring someone with you. We’ll be working together throughout the class, so it’s a really easy environment to chat and meet other ladies.

What do I need to bring?

All equipment is provided, including boxing gloves and pads. If you already have your own boxing gloves, please bring them with you. Wear comfortable gym clothes that you can move around in and bring some water. Thai boxing is generally done bare foot, so be prepared for this or being some grip socks if you would rather.

Location: Boxers Booth, 200 Unit 12/13, Woodville Park Industrial Estate, Woodville St, Glasgow, G51 2RL. Parking is available on site.

Connecting before the event

We know one of the most daunting parts of coming to an event solo can be the thought of walking in without knowing anyone, so we have created an event group chat for each date 💛 Once you have booked your ticket, you will get the option to join. It’s a lovely way to say hello, chat with some of the other ladies beforehand, make plans to arrive together if you would feel more comfortable, and keep up with any little event updates.

Information & background

Taking up space is part of the practice. There’s something incredibly powerful about learning how to use your body with confidence. There has been a lot in the media recently about self defence, we believe a big aspect of that is becoming confident in your body - making yourself bigger, being loud, making contact with something, learning that you can generate power, taking up space without apologising for it.

Martial arts can also be an incredibly mindful form of movement. You have to be present: noticing your feet, your breathing, your balance, your hands and what your body is doing in that exact moment. We talk a lot about processing things through our minds, but sometimes we need ways of reconnecting with our bodies too. Movement can give us a space to explore strength, confidence and physical expression in a completely different way.

And while learning how to punch and kick can absolutely leave you feeling a little more capable in your own body, this class isn’t about fear or preparing for something bad to happen. It’s about removing some of the scary barriers around martial arts and giving women a friendly place to try it.

Expect:

  • a warm-up and introduction to your stance and movement
  • basic punches
  • basic Thai boxing techniques
  • pad work with a partner (we will change it up so you work with different ladies throughout the session)
  • very high chance of some hilarity
  • good tunes as always

What is Thai Boxing?

Thai boxing (Muay Thai) is a martial art that uses punches, kicks, knees and elbows, basically your whole body. It’s fast, technical, a great workout, and vvvvv satisfying when you hear a good smack on the pads.
